In the long scheme of holidays, New Year’s Eve is one I really don’t care much for. It’s not for lack of great memories celebrating this holiday, I definitely have those, but my preferred way of ringing in the new year is in my pajamas with a bottle of champagne all to myself and the ball drop on in the background. So that’s how I’m celebrating! Mark comes home tomorrow which means I will have to share my bed again, so we’re logging some final quality time together just us two.
2016 was…well. It saw me and the rest of the world through a lot of ups and downs. Ultimately I’m thankful that my loved ones are healthy, that I was able to make some new friendships, that I have a roof over my head and a job, and that despite everything I managed to have fun.
Looking forward I have a couple of goals for the new year:
I want to save more money. And the money I don’t save I don’t want to spend it on decorations or baking supplies anymore. I want to spend it on traveling!
I want to be better informed. Really hoping my New York Times subscription helps with this!
I want to make progress in terms of my career, whether it means going back to school or learning a new skill.
I want to develop my hobbies more. I especially want to get better at photography!
I want to give back to the community more. I have no idea how, suggestions are welcome!
I want to spend less time on social media and more time in the moment.
Thank you to everyone who made my year so special. I wish you and all your loved ones success in the new year. Here’s to fresh beginnings!
