Bourbon Spiked Eggnog Doughnuts

You’re either on team eggnog or you’re not. Over here we’re fully and completely devoted to the rich, creamy beverage. So on a chilly December morning with a forecast of rain (!), I whipped up some eggnog donuts with bourbon spiked eggnog glaze. We ate them while we watched The Grinch. I was also wearing a Christmas onesie because festive.


For the doughnuts:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup eggnog
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together all willy nilly and crazy-like because who has time for extra cleanup??? Fill piping bag with batter and distribute into donut baking pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes, I don’t know, I just checked in on them every so often. Super scientific.

Pop ’em out of their little donut-pan beds and cool on cooling rack.


For the glaze:

  • 3 Tbsp of eggnog
  • 1 Tbsp of rum or bourbon
  • 1 & 1/2 cup of powdered sugar

Mix together ingredients on high speed for a couple of minutes. Pretty much until your willpower to not glaze those suckers and immediately chow down collapses in on itself.

With a spoon pour glaze over donut working from the hole to the outer edge so some drips down the sides. Oh, I guess this tip is important: put some parchment paper under the cooling rack to catch all the drippings. YOU CAN EVEN LICK IT CLEAN IF YOU LIKE! BECAUSE YOU’RE AN ADULT!


For best results plate onto festive dishes you picked up at Target for $1 each. Also pair with coffee. Also sit by the Christmas tree.
